This past weekend we had approximately 90 volunteers show up on Saturday to lay 2,600 bales of pine straw at Allatoona High School as part of the Community Makeover celebration with 80 other churches and organizations in our community. Everyone worked hard in temperatures that must have been over 100 degrees with the heat index. Then later that day you showed up to support the Hope for Nicholas benefit concert.
Results:
Love AHS – approximately 80 to 90 volunteers (consisting of AHS staff, AHS students, NW Christian Church, and Cedarcrest Church) showed up and put out approximately 1,800 bales of pine straw. There are another 800 or so that will be put out later.
Hope for Nicholas – approximately 1,200 people came to the benefit concert and $35,000 was raised. For more info on Hope for Nicholas, click here.
It was an amazing day in which we lived out the gospel together. 1 Peter 3:15 says, “but in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect” (NIV). Together, we showed the love of Christ in a tangible way and as a direct result of this day many opportunities will become available to tell others about the hope we have in Christ.
